Our current space makes it slightly difficult, occasionally dangerous, to engage in rambunctious team-building activities.

As one student reflected: "I need a place that let's me focus and relax!"
Barriers:
- Promethean Board is located in an awkward place, making it difficult to see and use effectively.
- My desk, which I do not use, is large and cumbersome, takes up valuable real estate.
- Our desks fall apart (literally) often and need to be allen wrenched together.
- Chairs are uncomfortable, feel like cement.
- WiFi is unreliable when we use Chromebooks
- Lack of space to display students' work in progress.
Ways Kids like to study (where, how)
- At Starbucks and Taco Bell they often take the "high" seats with elevated tables that have WiFi
- At school, given a choice, many prefer to literally lie on the floor or sprawl anywhere with or without cushions or carpets.
- At libraries, window seats seem to be a favorite.
- They also like my pseudo standing desks on wheels, which are really wheeled-laptop desks
This is what my old room currently looks like.
The teacher's desk is probably older than I am and will soon be up for adoption. The students' desks are cumbersome and have legs that often collapse (literally). The chairs are all one size, but the students are not, which leads to discomfort and more off-task behavior than necessary. |
- "Old File Cabinets:
Imagine that being sung by CLASH!!
I'll need to work on that second verse.
Now, homage (tribute if you will) to those who have gone before. Thank You!
